What do I enjoy most about tutoring?😁
The best thing about tutoring for me is seeing my students feeling comfortable and confident in themselves. In the beginning, my students have felt rather uneasy or are not confident in talking in English entirely. However, after some time when they feel more comfortable, they are eager to ask more questions, do more exercises and speak in English. Seeing them being able to trust me and trust themselves is an outcome that I treasure. I also enjoy seeing my students improve academically. Seeing them work hard and ask for extra homework is a joy as it reflects they want to aim for higher grades and they see me as their mentor in this process.
My Strengths as Tutor💪
I am patient, flexible, can adapt to different learning environments, and am able to make the classes interesting for my students.
Since I have taught students of different levels, I have learned my way through changing my teaching techniques for my students when they come from different educational levels. I can also adapt to the different teaching modes easily, for instance, I can teach big classes, one-on-one and now even through Zoom. Some of my students are younger students who are easily distracted, thus, I try to retain their attention by providing educational games and activities in class so they find the lessons more interesting.
Most important things I can do for a student🏅
I deem the first most important done by a tutor for the student is to be patient. Since not all students have the same learning abilities, some are fast learners and some are slow learners, it is crucial for a tutor to be flexible in her teaching skills when faced with different students. Being patient when teaching rather weak students is something I learned from my tutoring experience. To cope with it, I would prepare extra teaching materials for the student or break down complex ideas or theories into smaller easier blocks for them to understand. It is wise as a tutor to teach in a way that suits the students' pace and allows the student to actually understand the concepts.

About Me
I am Aiman, a Year 3 Journalism and Politics student at The University of Hong Kong. Other than tutoring, I sometimes work as a volunteer at a youth organization that is aimed at advocating for and mentoring ethnic minority secondary school students. I also enjoy writing, in fact, last summer I did an internship with The Millennial Source and wrote many published articles about Hong Kong.
I also enjoy meeting new people through joining different activities. I enjoy reading books, watching American TV shows and cycling too!
Even though I am not local Chinese, I still treat Hong Kong as my home as I have spent almost my whole life here. Thus, I can speak fluent Cantonese too which is helpful sometimes when tutoring local students.
