What do I enjoy most about tutoring?😁

The process of teaching is very fulfilling in my opinion. From the start, your student would be oblivious about a certain topic. But teaching is an interactive process of making the unknown known. I would love to be able to help those who are struggling with English handle it well and, even hopefully, be intrigued by it.

My Strengths as TutoršŸ’Ŗ

As a tutor, I would say my upbringing and curiosity are my strengths. I grew up with English-speaking cousins so I have been speaking it for as long as I could remember. I was also exposed to the Western culture, which includes even miscellaneous things like trends, slangs and local practices, so instead of just teaching general grammatical and language structures, I would be able to give thorough explanations and introduce to my students different aspects of the English language. I am also an arts student, so I’m always curious and wanting to know more. While teaching, I’m also learning. Since every situation is a learning experience for me, it makes me somehow a ā€˜fun-facts expert’. English is not just a language, it has its own history, evolution and influences. I would like to share this with others.

Most important things I can do for a studentšŸ…

Incorporate fun elements into tutorials to make the lessons more interesting. Learning would be easier if it has two-way interactions.

About Me

Growing up in Hong Kong and having studied in a traditional local school, I’m familiar with the typical Hong Kong style teaching. I went to the UK for my first year of university and there I was introduced to interactive activity-based teaching. With group work and in-class discussions, the lessons were fun and interesting. Instead of uni-directional tutorials, I am eager to make my lessons situational, practical and memorable. Most importantly, make learning a fun experience.
