Prepare for the DSE

Practice both your speaking and writing for the DSE English language exam. You will get the chance to learn with a trainer who has been helping students study for their DSE exams since they started.

With the writing course we will help you cement your knowledge of grammar and improve your range of vocabulary. We will practice using past papers and you will get immediate feedback on your writing.

With the speaking course you will have ample practice with both the group discussion part and the individual presentation.

Introduction to Plain Language

Class size: maximum 10 per session
Fee: HKD800/person.
Schedule: TBA

Plain language is a means by which you communicate to your audience so that they can read and understand it the first time they see or hear it. By writing in plain language your audience can:

• Find what they are looking for

• Understand what it is they have found

• Use the information they have found to meet their needs.

There are many writing techniques that can be used:

• Logical organisation with the reader in mind
  

• Using ‘you’ and other active pronouns

• Using short sentences with common every day words

• Using easy to read design features.

• Plain language should be easy to read, understand and use.
  

In this two hour workshop, you will learn the techniques necessary to help you create documents in plain language.

Aileen has been teaching English since 1995 to students of all ages in the UK, US, Greece and now Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, Aileen has taught in kindergarten, primary and secondary schools as well as teaching adults. She has also trained local teachers in Macau to help them teach English.  At ITS, she offers training courses in Business English, Plain English for Lawyers as well as Aviation, Cabin Crew English, IELTS  and more.
