I came across an article recently discussing the use of Artificial intelligence for education. My first thought was that human teachers would be replaced by soulless A.I. robots. However as I read the article further, I starting seeing A.I. as a potentially valuable aid for teachers. The world will still need humans to provide the subjectivity that is needed for teaching, but having an A.I. assistant would offer many benefits, like quantifiable analysis, adaptive learning structure, instant improvements in customization for individual needs, and quick and instant information. There will be some governments attracted to the low costs of having A.I. teachers, and this would change the structure of employment in education, but that would make human-mediated education a luxury service. Overall I can’t help think that this will be a benefit to society.
