This qualification is 100% externally assessed by examination and has a modular structure, with three exam sessions each year in October, January and June (not all subjects are available in each exam session). A table of the course structure can be found at the bottom of the page.
First and foremost, to study an IAL in Psychology you must have a keen interest in the human behaviour, a curious mind and the ability to evaluate evidence and arguments. You do not need to have studied psychology before, although previous study at GCSE level may be useful.
You can go on to university courses like an honours degrees in Psychology, or go on to degrees like Medicine, Politics, Law, Social Work and applied Business.
The skills learned by studying psychology are relevant to many careers across a diverse field, including sport, education, business, social work and medicine, among others.

If you are an international student taking A-levels the basic offer is made for 3 A-level subjects. It is very important when choosing these subjects that you understand what options you will have for university when the time comes.
