Another unfortunate consequence of the Corona virus and efforts to deal with the lockdown is seeing those students who struggle at school becoming more disadvantaged.
Home-schooling because of the coronavirus crisis will widen the gap in performance between low and high achievers, and between students from disadvantaged backgrounds and their more affluent peers, the head of Ofsted has warned.
Amanda Spielman, the chief inspector of the school standards body, said she was “seriously worried” about vulnerable children falling further behind during the lockdown.
It is difficult in these current times to see how this problem can be addressed.
