Coronavirus - the impossibility of home-schooling a nation

By ITS Education Asia

When UK schools closed their doors amid the coronavirus crisis a couple of weeks ago, a second - and for some, horrifying - epidemic started to spread: that of home schooling.

Children returned home laden with homework packs or, in some cases, full online timetables and parents made uneasy transitions into teachers of maths, English and science. Some head teachers have called for schools to be able to make up for lost time, by repeating the summer term.

Head of the Association of School and College Leaders Geoff Barton thinks there could be a push for a "fresh start." "This is going to need something of a national renewal. We'll want something pretty substantial to re-establish patterns of learning, habits of schooling, the resocialisation of the UK's young people." And that will probably be true for parents too.

Nothing about trying to manage your child’s education in this environment seems simple. ITS can help with your home schooling so please contact us if you have any questions.
