Covid-19 won't last forever, but online learning here to stay, former Hong Kong finance chief says in predicting 'new normal' for education

History is likely to refer to this period as before Covid-19 and after. This article from The SCMP highlights how the switch to online learning is unlikely to go away even after the pandemic recedes.

A blend of online and in-person lessons is set to be the education world’s “new normal” in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, a former top Hong Kong official has said.

“It’s unfortunate that only amid the Covid-19 pandemic has the whole process of adapting to online teaching and the use of technology in education been sped up” John Tsang, former Hong Kong financial secretary. ITS first opened an online classroom in 2012 and wholeheartedly agrees that society has been slow to catch on.
