Teachers in local Hong Kong Kindergartens are overworked and sleep deprived, according to a recent Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers Poll.
More than 90% of the 1255 kindergarten teachers and principals who participated in the survey said they were thinking of leaving the education sector because of stress and sleep deprivation. The pressure to complete extra administrative work, such as the tendering process for teaching materials and appraisals along with curriculum development imposed upon them by Free Quality Kindergarten Education Scheme is becoming too much for many to handle.
