Hong Kong universities step up security leaving students and staff facing guards, gates and fencing just to get to class

By ITS Education Asia

It is with a great deal of sadness that ChalkFace reports this story from the SCMP, but with the recent repair bills that universities faced as a result of protest action it is of no real surprise. The repair bills for Chinese University Shatin Camus alone were in the vicinity of HKD $70,000,000.  This money therefore is no longer available to be spent on the actual university operations.

Security checkpoints to enter universities are now likely to become the norm in Hong Kong.

Therefore all should be aware that if they have need to visit a university the entrance procedure is now likely to result in time delays. So please take this into account when planning your visit or meeting.
