Melbourne school removes bins and tells pupils to take rubbish home to encourage zero waste

By ITS Education Asia

A school in Melbourne is making efforts to fight the problem of rubbish by removing bins from the classrooms and telling children to take their rubbish home to encourage them to move towards zero waste.

Classroom bins will be removed and replaced with recycling stations and compost options, but sanitary waste bins will remain in the bathrooms.

So what do you think? Is this a good idea or will it just lead to people throwing rubbish on the ground as there will be no bins to put it in? As an ex-teacher who spent many hours supervising yard duty I wonder if a bold plan like this can succeed.
