Amidst concerns that education has been placing too much weight on exam results, Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) is proposing that schools that “push out” students of lower ability or teach a curriculum specifically focused to improve exam results should be punished. The proposal was welcomed by both the children’s commissioner and the education secretary for England. The new proposed framework would also rate schools based on if students “behave with consistently high respect for others”. Should Hong Kong follow suit?
