The Guardian has released its 2021 university rankings. One of the most respected ranking systems available, the big surprise is Oxford topping the table for the first time in a while and Cambridge dropping to 3rd overall. St Andrews stays 2nd.
One of the big changes is that the ranking shave included employment data 15 months after graduation as more reliable than the 6 month point that used to be measured.
Oxford has also excelled at recruiting students with lower predicted grades at school who go on to score at least a 2:1 in a much better ratio. This reflects a big effort to broaden access and get clever people from non-traditional backgrounds to apply.
Other improvements include a well-resourced careers service and the OxFo start-up scheme.
