Schools can reduce waste too

Waste is an increasing problem just about everywhere and particularly in smaller jurisdictions like Hong Kong. Our ability to deal with waste is getting more and more restricted as we run out of landfill space, stop polluting waste disposal options such as incineration and fail to invest heavily in recycling and reusing schemes. The only immediate option is produce less waste in the first place. Adults are not very good at that being stuck in their ways but school children are open to these ideas. One scheme in Australia showed students able to reduce their waste by 60% just by thinking more carefully about how they wrapped their school lunch.

What other ideas could easily reduce school waste? Does your school encourage reduced waste options?
