Testing much? The pros and cons of exams in education

By ITS Education Asia

Here is a very interesting and thought provoking article on whether Hong Kong relies too much on exams. Comparisons are made with Singapore which has recently reduced the number of exams students need to sit.

A range of experts are asked for their views, and both positive and negative aspects of exams are considered.

It has been a trend in some areas of education in HK to see the number of exams being reduced. The move by many schools to the IB has seen some of those schools replace the IGCSE (externally examined) with the MYP (internally assessed).

What do you think? Do HK children sit to many exams and is too much importance placed on grades?
