UK: The Guardian view on keeping schools open: not an open and shut case

Here is an interesting editorial opinion from the UK Guardian newspaper discussing the dilemma faced by the UK government in its deliberations on whether to close schools or not as a response to the latest virus outbreak.

But while it is quite right that schools being open is seen as a priority, the harm that would be caused by sending children home again should not blind anyone to the risks of keeping them in crowded classrooms.

The government has set out no clear rationale for why it believes that, unlike in the spring and summer, it is safe for schools to remain open to almost all.

It appears that like with many other questions and issues thrown up as a result of the Covid pandemic there do not appear to be any clear cut answers.
