UK unis instructed to be more flexible in assessing students' A-level results

By ITS Education Asia

The higher education regulator in the UK has asked universities to “rethink how they are judging merit” relating to exam results, in a bid to increase students attending university from disadvantaged backgrounds.

This procedure, called “contextual admissions,” has different entry requirements for students based on social and economic circumstances. While controversial with politicians and middle-class families, UK education secretary, Damian Hinds, supports this practice.
