The University of Arizona acquired Ashford University -- a fully online university that enrolls roughly 35,000 students. As part of what it called a "transformational" definitive agreement, the University of Arizona will create a new nonprofit entity called the University of Arizona Global Campus that will buy Ashford University for $1. The new University of Arizona Global Campus will be a fully online university to students around the world.
As college leaders reflect on the challenge of rapidly transitioning to remote learning, many may be thinking about how their institutions can grow their online capability. Expect more universities to expand their remote learning capabilities.
