Given the large amount of Hong Kong students who wish to become doctors. I would like to draw attention to this growing problem that was recently discussed in a BBC news article. The article “Surgery students 'losing dexterity to stitch patients” discusses how the amount of time young people are spending on electronic devices in contributing to a loss in hand dexterity. Prof Kneebone says he has seen a decline in the manual dexterity of students over the past decade - which he says is a problem for surgeons, who need craftsmanship as well as academic knowledge. This may be an interesting topic to discuss in an interview for medicine. Young people thinking of a career in medicine and surgery should consider hobbies that help hand dexterity.
