After earning his degree in Genetics from Cardiff University, Daryl pursued further studies at the University of Southampton, where he focused on Physics. He then completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) to begin his teaching career. On becoming a teacher:

I became a teacher due to my deep passion for the sciences and my strong desire to help others reach their full potential. The ability to inspire and support students in their academic journeys is something find incredibly rewarding. I find great satisfaction in working with students to tackle complex concepts and witnessing their growth as they develop a deeper understanding of these ideas. Seeing them progress and gain confidence in their learning is truly the most fulfilling part of teaching.

Other interests that reflect on my personality as a teacher:

I am an avid traveler, having explored a wide range of countries including Costa Rica, the Philippines, South Africa, and Brazil, which has broadened my global perspective and enhanced my approach to teaching. Additionally, I am a passionate football fan and enjoy staying active by running regularly. These interests reflect my belief in the importance of balance, curiosity, and perseverance—qualities strive to instill in my students.

A person I find inspirational and why:

I have always admired Richard Feynman for his exceptional ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging. His enthusiasm for learning and his skill in simplifying intricate ideas for broader understanding has had a profound impact on my own approach to teaching.

Albert Einstein has always been a source of inspiration due to his groundbreaking work in physics and his revolutionary contributions to our understanding of space and time. His development of the theory of special relativity challenged conventional thinking and has had a lasting influence on both science and our view of the universe.

Top tip to younger self:

I would advise my younger self to focus diligently on education while also making time to travel. Exploring new cultures and experiences has a profound impact on personal growth and helps foster a broader, more open-minded perspective.
