She has focused in the Education field for over 5 years.  Joy’s main focus in Education is in areas of interview preparations, English language and working with Primary age students.

On becoming a teacher:

With two older teenage children of my own, I knew I enjoyed playing with children and being around them, but had never thought I would move onto teaching them. After volunteering to teach refugee children when I lived in Malaysia, it sparked an interest in myself that this could be a career path I could look at pursing.  Seeing children be proud of the work they have learned and accomplished, gives me joy knowing I was able to contribute to their learning and development.

Other Interests that reflect on my personality as a teacher:

I enjoy travelling a lot and hiking in foreign countries. What I usually find, is our guide would speak English as a second language, and therefore we would go into long discussions with myself guiding and correcting his English and on occasion, teaching some of our porters basic English words. This gave me great joy knowing that I am able to practice and help them improve their English, and potentially help the  move on as English speaking guides. They in turn are able to share with me all the beauty about their own country while practicing English.

Top tip to younger self:

I would tell myself not to procrastinate so much and take the leap of faith to pursue my joys and interests, sooner rather than later. Although in the present, time goes by so slow, but before you know it, it has gone by in the blink of an eye.
