Marina is a native Spanish teacher from Spain, with a Master's in Teaching Spanish, a Master's in Education, and a Bachelor's degree in Business. She has over a decade of experience teaching IGCSE and IB Spanish at Hong Kong's top schools, including CIS, ESF, CDNIS, King's College, Rosaryhill, and ELE at HKUSPACE. Her private students come from these schools, as well as HKIS (AP), Kellett (AQA), and Harrow International School (A-Levels).

As an IGCSE (Edexcel and Cambridge) and DELE examiner, she knows exactly what it takes to succeed in assessments. But for her, teaching is about so much more than exams. In her tailored lessons, culture plays a central role. She creates fun and realistic activities that immerse you in the language, so you build confidence while learning to think in Spanish from day one—all without memorising grammar or vocabulary, as you'll learn it naturally, just like a native speaker. However, if your learning style is more straightforward or you're in a rush to prepare for an exam, Marina can also provide you with the templates and strategies you need to focus on achieving the highest possible score.

"I truly care about your success. Every student I've guided has achieved the goals we set—or even surpassed them. I am extremely proud to say that around 90% have earned the highest marks in their program and final exam. That's the standard I hold myself to, because your achievements are mine too." — Marina

On Becoming a Teacher:

I became a teacher because I know what it feels like to struggle with learning languages. In high school everything was about grammar memorization—endless vocabulary lists, repetition, and no real connection with the language and culture. That methodology wasn't for me, and it turned learning into a painful experience. English became that wall I couldn't climb, a stone in my path. So at 27, I made a decision: I packed my bags and moved to London to finally learn English.

When I started studying teaching methodologies and training to help others learn Spanish, I had a revelation—it wasn't me who was the problem. It was the way they had taught me. That realization changed everything. Now, I dedicate myself to helping others learn in the way that works best for them, because I know firsthand that it is possible. Every student is unique, and my mission is to show them that learning a language can be a beautiful, empowering journey—not a burden.

On the other hand, my early exposure to the teaching profession through my mother's successful kindergarten business has also deeply influenced my decision to become an educator. Observing her passion, dedication, and positive impact on young learners inspired me to follow in her footsteps.

Joy about teaching:

To mentor and guide my students, helping them navigate the challenges of learning and supporting their development, witnessing their growth and success is the most fulfilling aspect of teaching for me, as it drives me to continuously strive for excellence as a teacher and coach.

Other Interests That Reflect My Personality as a Teacher:

I have a deep love for sports, animals, and the natural world. At home, I share my life with four dogs and a cat, who I truly consider my babies—they teach me every day about unconditional love, patience, and the joy of living in the moment. In sports, I've learned that effort, resilience, and teamwork. And nature reminds me to slow down, breathe, and appreciate the simple wonders of life. These passions have made me a more compassionate, grounded, and patient teacher.

A Person in My Field of Study I Most Admire and Why:

I deeply admire Dr. Ignacio Bosque, not just for his brilliance, but for his generosity in sharing knowledge. He reminds me that teaching is about making others fall in love with what you know. His work inspires me to be a bridge between my students and the Spanish language.

A Person I Find Inspirational and Why:

My mother. She is my greatest inspiration and my forever home. I grew up watching her pour her heart into her kindergarten, caring for every child as her own. But beyond her work, what moves me most is how she has always been there for me—unconditionally, always. She believes in me when I doubt myself, she is so proud of me, and she still takes care of me like I'm her little girl. Everything I am comes from her love.

Top Tip to My Younger Self:

I would tell my younger self to be more curious and open, to listen more to my grandparents and elders, because they are true educators. I would also remind myself not to be afraid to step outside my comfort zone, because time has shown me that those are always the best growing experiences.
