What I most enjoy about teaching is the opportunity to create meaningful connections with my students and inspire them to explore the richness of the Spanish language and culture. I love seeing the spark of understanding and excitement in their eyes as they grasp new concepts and skills.
Beyond the classroom, I cherish the chance to mentor and guide my students, helping them navigate the challenges of learning and supporting their development. Witnessing their growth and success is the most fulfilling aspect of teaching for me, as it drives me to continuously strive for excellence as a teacher and coach.
Other interests that reflect on my personality as a teacher:
Alongside my teaching career, I am a passionate and accomplished padel-tennis player. I am part of the female pro team of the first padel-tennis academy in Hong Kong, representing the city in the Asia Pacific Padel Tour (APPT) and currently ranked 40th in the region. I am a qualified padel-tennis coach and have been actively involved in a wide range of sports from a young age. I believe sports have helped me develop qualities like perseverance, resilience, and a love for the journey.
A person I find inspirational and why:
In the field of Spanish language education, I most admire the work of Dr. Ignacio Bosque, a renowned linguist and professor at the Complutense University of Madrid. I admire Bosque's unwavering dedication to advancing the field of Spanish linguistics and his commitment to bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications in the classroom. His groundbreaking work and innovative approach to teaching have been truly inspiring.
One person I find deeply inspirational is Serena Williams, the legendary professional tennis player. I am motivated by Serena's remarkable achievements, her unwavering determination, and her resilience in the face of adversity. Her story reminds me that with passion, dedication, and a growth mindset, one can achieve remarkable feats, both on and off the field of play.
Top tip to younger self:
If I could go back in time, I would encourage my younger self to be more curious, open, and proactive in learning from the experiences of others. Listen more from my grandparents and elderly people, I think they are truly educators, and by embracing their knowledge, I could have become an even more effective and impactful teacher, better equipped to support the growth and success of my students.
Additionally, I would remind my younger self to not be afraid to step outside of my comfort zone and seek out new experiences that could broaden my horizons, because time has shown me that it is always the best growing experience we can have.
