About Me
Aadya, a music and theatre enthusiast, with a keen interest in Economics and Global Politics is a Grade 10, MYP student at Oberoi International School in Mumbai. Having completed her Trinity grade 5 exams in western vocals, Aadya plays the guitar, composes songs and writes poetry. She has been an integral part of the school musical productions with leading performances for over 5 years. She believes that music and theatre are powerful tools for self-expression and wants to leverage her experience and strength in this area to bring about social change.
Aadya is the Media Head of the School Sports Council is also on the school volleyball team. Through these endeavours she has been driving a culture of competing, collaborating and connecting through sports. Her ongoing engagement with MUN at school and regional level has helped her develop a deep appreciation and perspective on Global politics. With a strong belief that we can thrive only if we enable communities around us, Aadya has demonstrated both internal commitment and external expression of her passion towards sustainability and social enterprise. She has been a mentor with Engin where she has been focused on teaching English language to students in Ukraine. She has co-founded “Ethereal Expressions”, a platform to collect art from local artisans and auctioning it to share proceeds with non-profit organisations working in the space of providing basic necessities, including literacy, to underprivileged girls. She has successfully conducted 3 auction events in Mumbai. Surrounded by multiple underprivileged communities in Mumbai, Aadya is keen to invest time and resources to enhance their awareness and access to financial and policy literacy and resources that can empower them to be informed, confident and astute.
Aadya is currently engaged in creating content and working with key partners like financial institutions, volunteers and policy experts to develop this into a sustainable program with a wider reach beyond her immediate community. All of these experiences have helped Aadya develop into a well-rounded individual with strong leadership abilities, inclusive mindset, agility and a sense of purpose.
Project Description
The goal of this program is to raise awareness of mental health issues between parents and youth. Teens take the initiative to organize workshops that inform parents about the difficulties that teenagers encounter and provide them the skills and techniques they need to recognize and assist their mental health needs. The program places a strong emphasis on open communication, giving parents the skills and self-assurance they need to provide a secure, nurturing environment for their teenagers. This program seeks to improve family ties and lessen the stigma associated with mental health by encouraging empathy and understanding, which will have a beneficial and long-lasting effect on both generations.
