Project Description
The project we are working on, named "conserve." is a project aiming to reduce the carbon footprint at Hiroshima International School, and will consist of four parts. Inform, reduce, renew, and absorb. The "inform", will mainly focus on informing our school community about our current situation, and what we can do to reduce our carbon footprint. The "reduce" section is where we measure the reduction in electricity, measuring the amount of electricity we save just by being mindful of the ways in which we consume electricity regularly. "Renew", will focus on transforming our energy sources to renewable energy. Finally, "absorb", will be the planting of vegetation which will reduce the carbon footprint, even though we need to use electricity to engage in schoolwork.
This project will help the community of our school, as well as have an impact on global energy consumption, as each organization tries to reduce energy consumption, which will pile up and significantly change the amount of greenhouse gases emitted each day. The project will also allow for learning experiences as the "inform" section will help the students, especially the younger grades, get in touch with SDG work and work towards sustainability.
