About Me
I am a Year 12 IB student at the German Swiss International School in Hong Kong. My interests are mostly artistic, particularly drawing, painting, crocheting, and dancing. Additionally, I enjoy fostering a sense of community, and therefore participate in and lead various communities, where we actively engage in volunteer work, especially focusing on aiding the underprivileged in Hong Kong. I am passionate about fashion and design, which is also the inspiration for my project, which aims to merge the transient nature of fashion trends with sustainable practices, challenging consumerism, and fast fashion.
Project Description
Fash Forward is an innovative, AI-powered application that aims to revolutionize the fashion industry by empowering consumers to break the cycle of fast fashion and adopt a more sustainable, circular approach to style. It is designed to accommodate the ever-evolving, fast-paced nature of the fashion industry, as we recognize that consumers are passionate about fashion while allowing them to fulfill this desire in a much more eco-friendly way.
At the core of the Fast Forward app is a virtual closet that utilizes AI technology and machine learning to scan and analyze the user's existing wardrobe, enabling the app to understand the specific pieces, colors, and styles that the user already owns. When a user needs to put together an outfit for a specific occasion or to match a trending look, Fast Forward leverages its AI-powered algorithms to generate personalized styling recommendations. Instead of encouraging the user to purchase new clothes that may only be worn once or twice, the app helps them rediscover and reimagine the hidden potential within their existing wardrobe. By offering creative outfit ideas and pairing suggestions, Fast Forward encourages users to view their clothes in a fresh, innovative way.
By promoting a circular, sustainable model of consumption, Fast Forward aims to drive tangible progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). We hope to change the mindsets of consumers and envision a future where style and sustainability coexist harmoniously, and where the fashion landscape embraces more environmentally responsible practices.
