Project Description

It is heartbreaking to see many migrant domestic workers spending their holidays under footbridges during days when the heat is scorching, as they are the ones that deserve relaxing breaks after being our lovely companions all week long.

Sunday Smiles aim to create a youth group that mingles with migrant domestic workers in public spaces in order to learn more about their personal stories and struggles. Our approaches prioritise ones with the most human connection, including just simply being the listening ear or sharing cultural food as this is what creates connection between us as Hong Kongers and those who are from foreign countries. Through bridging the gap between the two communities, migrant domestic workers may feel more confident to share their encounters of mistreatment with others due to how they're included as a valued member of the community instead of just an employer. It targets SDGs 5, 8, 10, and 16.
