About Me

Jun Mikami is a passionate 12th-grade student at Yokohama International School who believes in the power of entrepreneurship to drive social change. Combining his global upbringing with an interest in public policy, he has led initiatives that strengthen food security, promote nutrition education, and support families facing resource constraints. As the co-founder of NutrixBloom, Jun demonstrates his commitment to advancing community wellbeing through sustainable, student-driven solutions that make healthy eating more accessible for all.

NutrixBloom has delivered over 1,800 meals and hosted nutrition workshops across Tokyo and Beijing, equipping youth and families with practical knowledge about affordable and nutritious meal preparation. Jun also leads efforts to develop multilingual learning materials and digital content, using creative tools such as Minecraft-based educational videos to help young audiences understand the relationship between food systems, markets, and wellbeing. His dedication to community support extends to international contexts, including initiatives assisting Cuban households experiencing food shortages through donation networks and family nutrition resources.

Jun is currently expanding NutrixBloom’s reach through collaborations focused on food security research and strategic outreach, working alongside educators and policy mentors to better understand how economic and social structures affect access to food across diverse regions. Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, he is a competitive swimmer of 13 years and a Kanto Plain and AISA champion, and he contributes to student media and creative projects that amplify youth perspectives on global issues.

These diverse experiences have shaped Jun’s perspective on the interconnectedness of social impact and innovation, driving his mission to create meaningful change one meal, one family, and one community at a time.

Project Description

NutrixBloom is a student-led initiative dedicated to strengthening food security and nutrition education for underserved communities across Asia and Latin America. Founded at Yokohama International School, NutrixBloom mobilizes students, families, and partner organizations to provide accessible nutrition support through meal distribution, educational workshops, and multilingual learning resources. By combining community-based action with an emphasis on public health and sustainability, NutrixBloom seeks to ensure that nutritious food and reliable knowledge are not privileges, but universal rights.

To date, NutrixBloom has delivered over 1,800 meals and facilitated nutrition workshops in Tokyo and Beijing, equipping youth and parents with practical skills for affordable, healthy eating. The initiative also supports Cuban households facing food shortages through informational campaigns and resource-sharing networks, and it develops digital education tools, including Minecraft-based videos that introduce younger audiences to food systems, economic access, and healthy living. Beyond food distribution, NutrixBloom places a strong focus on long-term empowerment, helping communities build habits that improve wellbeing over time rather than providing only short-term relief.

Looking ahead, NutrixBloom aims to expand its operations to reach over 500 additional families and partner with schools and local organizations to implement sustained nutrition literacy programs. Ultimately, NutrixBloom envisions a scalable model of student-driven food security work that can be replicated across underserved regions, demonstrating how youth-led collaboration and data-informed action can transform access to nutrition and community health.
