About Me

Hello! I’m a Year 11 student at ESF King George V School. I’m passionate and involved in the creative side of school life and love working on projects that combine storytelling, design, and teamwork. I play an active role in leading both the school TV network and the yearbook team, which allow me to express my passion for photography and videography. I also take an active stance in sustainability, being a member of the internal management of my school's Global Goals Council branch and also managing the social media and awareness division of an international student charity.

Project Description

Recently, I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to travel abroad with my friends, and I was able to visit an orphanage in Taiwan, which operated rather differently to those in Hong Kong. The visit left a strong impression on me, and along with another member of the trip, we decided to reach out to the private charitable organization running the orphanage to see how we could help. We aim to donate toys to the children in the orphanage, as we believe there is a unique opportunity in Hong Kong where expensive, plastic toys are purchased by parents for their young kids - whom quickly grow out of them and typically results in the toys being thrown into the trash, and we aim to collect and recycle these toys by cleaning and sending them out to the children in Taiwan.

In the future, we hope to expand to more orphanages than just the one that we are contacting, and to spread our group to other schools, as being students affords us a very special opportunity to make contact with parents who may have multiple children that have recently grown out of their toys.
