Coronavirus: Missing school is worse than virus for children - Whitty

By ITS Education Asia

Chalkface has been following the ongoing discussions from around the world on getting children back to school.  This article from the BBC reports that the UK’s Chief medical Adviser is of the view that missing school is of greater harm to children then the virus.

Prof Chris Whitty said "the chances of children dying from Covid-19 are incredibly small" - but missing lessons "damages children in the long run".

Other questions covered in the article include:

·         Will children spread the virus to grandparents?

·         Are school staff at risk?

·         Can schools ever be completely safe?

·         Should face coverings be worn in schools?

·         What about the R number and a vaccine?

A very interesting article.  There do not appear to be any “correct” answers.  If your children are falling behind at school please contact us for a free consultation on how we can help you.
