Breakfast with the Head of College

At the event, attended by about 120 parents, Chris spoke about his observations of the College, based on more than 100 visits to classrooms and activities since joining UWCSEA inAugust this year. His conclusion was that the College is mission driven, and has not only outstanding teaching and learning going on every day, but also very special interactions between both students and staff as they engage in a diverse array of activities and opportunities. Chris also addressed parent queries with an open and honest discussion outlining changes happening within the school.

Topics of discussion also covered the UWC Scholar programme, innovation in the UWCSEA curriculum and the constant professional training offered to staff to ensure they deliver teaching at the highest levels. The College also prides itself in being an educational institution that brings out the best in a child holistically, with a high emphasis on, but not limited to, excellent academic standards.

Chris has an unwavering commitment to and passion for the values-based approach to education that is at the core of the UWC movement and UWCSEA. His career has been driven by a belief in the power of education to transform lives (his own beginnings in Liverpool were transformed by a scholarship to Oxford University) and a belief in the good of young people that mirrors that of our founder, Kurt Hahn.

In Chris’ own words:

This appointment is the greatest honour and privilege of my professional life. I am thrilled and grateful beyond measure because if there is a greater opportunity than the chance to join the UWC movement and UWCSEA, I’ve yet to find it.
