All around the world countries have been turning to online learning alternatives to try to mitigate the disruption to children’s education. The levels of success of this method have been very varied. This recent report from The Guardian in the UK paints a worrying picture of this method of learning failing for many university students.
One in three university students were unable to access online learning during the Covid-19 lockdown, according to new research which suggests that disabled students and those from poorer backgrounds were worst affected.
The survey, which was carried out in July by the National Union of Students (NUS), found that disruptions to studies arose from a lack of IT equipment and software, insufficient course materials, and poor internet connections.
If this is the situation for university students it leaves one wondering about the levels of success for primary and secondary students in the UK.
