UK: Government research indicates secondary school pupils may pose greater virus risk than primary students, reports suggest

By ITS Education Asia

Much has been written on how vulnerable children are to getting the virus and how likely they are to transmit it.  This article from The Independent reports on recent UK government research that suggests the risks increase with the age of the children.

The Times reports that while the preliminary research indeed indicates minimal risk is posed by the return of primary school pupils, with only a small fraction of thousands of tests displaying a positive result, a PHE source closely involved with the study says the preliminary results suggest that as children age, “their bodies start to act like small adults”.

The results of this study are certainly worrying in efforts to get students back to school.  Senior students who face external exams are those who will be most disadvantaged by not being able to attend classes.  Here at ITS we are able to help parents and students not fall behind in their studies by providing customized online solutions for each child.  Contact us for a free consultation.
