About Me
Bryan Chiu is a Design Thinking Enthusiast who is intrigued with Chess, coding and game theory. He has loved design thinking since he was young and used it to play chess competitively, design games and create products and services. Being an award winning FIDE Rapid U18 tournament chess player and a founder of the Chinese chess club at CDNIS, he learnt that it is extremely important to plan a few steps ahead. During his own planning on his dream career, he was stuck about which profession he should pursue. He has developed a deep interest in STEM subjects, but didn’t know which profession suits him most. After some research, he was inspired that he can actually plan his life and decided to create a framework for teenagers like him, based on elements of the “Designing Your Life” framework by Stanford professors Bill Burnett, Dave Evans, and Defining Decade by Meg Jay which inspired me to focus on the age 25, and decide important milestones in life, such as, your major and first job. So far, over 250 students from 12 different countries have signed up for our program and gone through the framework he proposed. We have created a great impact on these teenagers and we hope to serve more teenagers who can benefit from the program in both developing and developed countries. My vision is to have every teenager go through our program and understand the framework to planning their future.
Project Description
Design Your Life at 25 is a student-led organization aiming to guide teenagers (aged 12-18) on a self discovery journey to plan out their future and design their life at 25. In this journey, teenagers will have a chance to design their own roadmap to their university majors and first job. Currently, we hold regular 3-hour online workshops, hoping to empower teenagers from around the world to be their own life designers. We mainly tackle SDG Goals 4, 8, 9 and 17. We educate teenagers on the framework to planning their future and encourage them to take the initiative and plan their own future! We hope that every teenager who has participated in our program will have a better understanding about what their future would look like and become their own life designers. By doing so, they will have better success in their careers and contribute more to society.
Achievements Since UNITAR:
Design Your Life at 25 has won the Microsoft "Imagine" Award, Design Your Life at 25 have won $3000 Kids4kids sponsorship, Design Your Life at 25 has been featured on StartMeUpHK festival and Global Goals Week, Bryan has been featured as the youth panelist in HK SDG Summit to share insights about founding Design Your Life at 25, We currently have had over 300 signups from 13 different countries for our program, We have gone through 8 cohorts and created over 70+ blueprints about the participant's plan for their future!
