About Me
Hi there! My name is Natalie Leung and I’m a year 11 student currently studying at Kellett School Hong Kong. So a bit about myself, I’ve been in love with art ever since I could draw and from then on, If you’re looking for me, chances are that I’m in my art room, with a paintbrush in my hand unleashing my inner creativity and drawing away. The reason why I love art is that I find it helps me a lot with self expression- There’s no right or wrong and it genuinely amazes me how even if given the same theme, everyone will create something that speaks to them, and is unique to them only through art. Besides that, I’m also a huge advocate for making a change to our society and I hope I can bring a positive impact to the social issues we are currently facing too! Be that as environmental issues, such as climate change, or equal rights such as education for all. I am very grateful to be in such a privileged position, and so I believe with the amount of resources and opportunities I’ve so ever been fortunate enough to receive, I want to make the most out of it and bring a positive change to our community. It only takes one person to make a change so I really hope that I can bring a smile to your face and a dash of brightness to our world. As a graduate of the Unitar programme, I hope to be able to implement the knowledge that I’ve gained and be able to make an impact through bridging the gap between the fortunate and the disadvantaged, and help lift both up as I truly believe that as long as we try, we can achieve it as one.
Project Description
I came up with the idea for Novaart through my love for it- as if you read my little self-introduction. I have always found it to be my ‘creative outlet’ where I just get to create and enjoy. Every time I draw I enter a state of flow, where I just lose track of time and feel so fully relaxed. I searched up the benefits of art and its overall contribution towards our well-being and found the studies to be relatable- it does help us improve psychologically. That’s how the idea of Novaart originated! Through our initiative, me and my team were able to target SDG 3 (Good health and well-being) as well as SDG 10 (Reduced inequalities) through offering mental health resources and making it accessible for all, through the arts.
Achievements Since UNITAR:
After graduating from Unitar, I became an ambassador for my school for the organization TASS (The Alliance for Sustainable Schools). I have also been appointed deputy leader to be in charge of organizing the International Sustainability Conference that took place last March, as well as being a part of the ITS Foundation Youth Advisory Committee for 2024-25. I am super duper excited for these upcoming projects ahead and cannot wait to see the impact that we will all make together.
