Project Description
DreamForge is an initiative to allow people to have equal opportunities regardless of their background and social division. Our vision statement is, “To paint an altruistic world where every student can create ample opportunity for themselves.” and our mission statement is “Bridging the gap between backgrounds and bringing support to students of different backgrounds.” Looking at the SDGs, goal 4- Quality Education and goal 10 - Reducing Inequalities are correlated.
We focus on the wellbeing of children in navigating their futures and the teaching and parental support provided. pinpointing on the lack of goals and motivation of children in less privileged communities, we each assign an aspiring student with a university mentor and allow them to mingle. Then, this mentor tries to guide the student to explore their career preferences and wants in the future through recommending job shadowing programs, regular chitchat or other free/funded courses. They can also help them build a good portfolio that can stimulate their chances in getting into their desired course. Secondly, regarding the difficulty in receiving educational support, we will develop a network of notes donation for these students to gain extra tutoring and advice in their academics.
We believe that this can be a catalyst for movement of societal change, to allow children to overcome the vicious cycle of social backgrounds, provide a more affordable and convenient source of education, and promote understanding of the needs of primary actors due to tailor made support towards them.
