About Me
My name is Saloni Sethi and I am a 17 year old student at South Island School. I am interested in tackling issues of educational inequality through advocacy and direct action. In the future, I hope to study social policy and make a difference in the community around me.
Project Description
My initiative is "The Learning Network", an application designed to support ethnic minority students in local secondary schools in their learning. After volunteering at several secondary schools, I saw that ethnic minority students often lacked individualized resources and so I created a prototype application that included DSE content in several languages with supplementary materials. My project relates to the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education as well as Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Achievements Since UNITAR:
Since UNITAR, I organized a Turkey-Syria fundraiser in my school and raised 15,000 dollars. I also did a fundraiser for our school charity and raised the school’s target of 70,000 dollars
