About The School
HKIS celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2018, an impressive milestone for the school. It has two campuses with a total of more than 2,600 students from Reception 1 through Grade 12.
At High School level, the challenging American-based curriculum encourages students to grow intellectually by engaging them in collaborative work, interdisciplinary studies, student portfolios and use of technology in learning. A wide range of Advanced Placement Subjects are offered and al credit-based courses prepare students for US universities, with an option of taking AP courses in Grades 11 and 12. Students can also earn additional credits by signing up to one or more of the 40 after-school courses offered through the Global Online Academy (GOA). More than 80% of HKIS’ graduates continue their studies at a college or university in the US. On average students’ GPA results are on average of 3.67 to 4.1 every year. HKIS has two enrichment specialists who work with gifted students and prepare them for national competition such as the Math Olympiad, Hong Kong Young Writers and the Knowledge Master Open. Service to the community is an important aspect of high school activity, and students are able to give back to the local and global community, taking part in projects that make positive and lasting contributions to people all over the world.
