Inside The School

Parent Reviews

“The PYP curriculum provides a great platform for integrated learning, for example through the Unit of Inquiry . My son does not only acquire knowledge; he also learns to apply the knowledge in real - world situations alongside with important research, emotional and problem - solving skills . Another aspect that really stands out is the Forest - Beach School programme, where pupils get to enjoy outdoor activities and fresh air . However, this unique programme encompasses so much more: pupils learn about nature and the environment they live in and are ultimately given the opportunity to learn about themselves in this context . ” - Prof . Matthew Shi, parent of a Prep 2 (Year 2) pupil

“I really like the strong pastoral care system at Malvern College Hong Kong, and how the school approaches academics according to every child's grasping power and interests. In the senior years, a tutor is assigned to each pupil who is the first point of contact for academic, emotional and social matters, with dedicated tutor time built into the pupils’ timetable. My daughter knows that she can approach her tutor anytime – this has been a huge help for us, especially during times of online learning. As a doctor, I cannot emphasize enough how important mental wellbeing is. Having people at school who truly care for you – that does a lot for a child. It will go a long way.” - Dr Shivani Shinde, parent of a FY2 (Year 8) pupil

“In my opinion, Malvern’s teachers are strongly committed to the pupils’ education, be it within the core curriculum or through co-curricular activities and enrichment programmes. While setting a strong academic foundation, the school goes way beyond academic rigour. There is an extensive after-school programme in place, including even specialized programmes like venturing into law. This is very demanding and offers pupils a lot more than the standard package.” - Mr David Garceran-Nieuwenburg, parent of a Remove (Year 10) and a Hundred (Year 11) pupil

All Malvern schools share a common ethos defining our philosophy of education. We actively promote a set of well-tested values which we call the Malvern Qualities: humility, self-awareness, open-mindedness, independence, ambition, risk-taking, integrity, curiosity, collaboration, kindness and resilience. We believe these qualities are the foundation for our transformational educational experience and prepare our pupils to become confident, self-assured and resilient young men and women.

Academically accomplished and intellectually proficient, our pupils are comfortable in their own skin, confident in their own abilities, and are equipped with social skills to get on with, work with, and lead others in a rapidly changing world. New Programs

Malvern College Hong Kong recently reached a significant milestone by receiving the IB PYP and MYP accreditation, thus becoming an IB World School. The school is in its final stages of the IB Diploma Programme authorization which is expected to come through later this academic year. *

The first cohort of senior pupils in Hundred (Year 11) will be taking their MYP eAssessments in May which will encompass a combination of ePortfolios and on-screen examinations. The eAssessment will lead to an internationally recognised certificate and give external validation of their hard work and progress through the MYP programme.

The Sixth Form commences in August 2021 and will provide an ideal bridge between school and higher education. It is carefully designed to give students greater responsibility and freedom, preparing them for the transition to university life. Students have to balance a rigorous and demanding academic programme with wider interests. A bespoke leadership programme will underpin their development as reflective individuals and help them explore the multifaceted nature of leadership and help them develop their leadership skills.
