Curriculum

Tanglin has its own unique 3-14 curriculum framework for students, starting from as young as Nursery. This framework provides students with varied education pathways; students have the option to sit for (I)GCSE exams from not just one, but multiple exam boards: Edexcel; Cambridge; AQA and CCEA. Post-16, Tanglin is the only international school in Singapore to offer A Levels as well as International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, allowing students to choose the pathway best suited for them, and to prepare them for further study.

Tanglin’s students’ exam results have been amongst the highest in Singapore for many years, and significantly above UK averages (https://www.tts.edu.sg/academics/academic-results). More than 97% of students moved on to their first or second university of choice.

Students are encouraged to pursue a well-rounded education through the pursuit of a range of interests by developing existing talents or learning something new. They are exposed to a wide range of learning experiences beyond the classroom, library, or laboratory. Tanglin puts this into practice through a broad variety of Co-curricular activities, House competitions and Outdoor Education initiatives. In Senior School, Tanglin offers no less than 150 co-curricular activities in the areas of sport, the arts, outdoor education, academic enrichment, clubs and societies.

These thoughtfully planned out co-curricular programmes not only support students in their academic journey but also equip them with passions, pursuits and interests that will bring them joy and well-being beyond school. It also enhances the development of students’ independence by encouraging them to make informed choices and organise their time. All of these culminate into priceless life skills and soft skills that will enable Tanglin’s graduates to succeed as citizens of the world.

Inside The School

Parent Reviews

Julia Ilyaev (parent of Emilia (Y3))

Apart from wanting a school with a British curriculum, we had many friends who spoke highly of Tanglin Trust School and whose children had a very positive experience. When my husband and I moved to Singapore, we were curious to learn more and booked a visit through the admissions team.

As soon as we stepped foot on the campus, we knew this was a learning environment where our daughter would thrive. The facilities are incredible, the new Centenary Building offers many diverse learning opportunities. Our daughter now participates in gymnastics in the vast gymnasium and enjoys music lessons in the junior suite of the new music department.

Our daughter is delighted to come to school every day. The Nursery and Infant School is a well-thought-out and inviting space to encourage the children to explore new thoughts and ideas. My daughter loves the on-site Forest School, which offers her opportunities to learn in a natural environment. The teachers are attentive, and the curriculum centres on developing the whole child. So, whether my daughter is trying out new musical instruments, experiencing new crafts, or visiting new places, the idea is that fun and development go hand in hand. The teachers are one of the most vital assets of the school; they are always eager to provide feedback and make suggestions on how parents can complement their child’s development at home, as well as give a hot and nurturing environment.

We also enjoy the fact that the school has an incredible community. Despite being a large school, Tanglin has managed to create a school within a school through its unified House system. Emilia joined her house in Nursery and will remain in the same house throughout her time at Tanglin. As parents, we also joined her home, so the whole family has a connection that remains the same as we go through school together.

There is a busy calendar of events across the year, and we particularly enjoyed the Outdoor Movie Night and the Summer Festival. During this wonderful celebration, the whole school comes together at the end of the school year.

The aspect I most enjoy about Tanglin Trust School is its personalised approach to each child. The school believes in offering a holistic education for its pupils. The teachers get to know their pupils as individuals, and they cater to each student’s particular attributes which allows them to reach their highest potential. My husband and I are excited to see how Emilia develops and grows as she progresses through the school.

Hear It From Parents
  1. “Tanglin helps to discover my children’s individuality. Each child is happy, motivated to achieve and participating in the activities that interest them, whether sport, music, or academic. I feel that Tanglin achieves high academic results while taking care of children’s mental wellbeing. There seems to be a lot less pressure than similar high achieving schools in the UK, and seems a healthier way to learn for my children."
  2. "Tanglin is striving to be the best school in the world; they never rest on their laurels but look to always improve. The teachers are passionate and dedicated and offer personalised learning, and although both my children are very different, Tanglin brings out the best in both of them!"
  3. "The teaching staff are excellent and the general ethos of the school is fantastic. The facilities are ever-improving and the curriculum is constantly evolving to meet the needs of modern life and expectations. My children have thrived and flourished immensely throughout their time at Tanglin."
